Bingkai Karya – After being widely recognized for her pop-folk singles, bungareyza is now ready to reveal another side of herself by introducing a new persona, Mingse, and releasing her latest hipdut single, “Astaga Bercanda,” which also marks her collaboration with Bengkulu-based musician and producer Akbar Chalay. Her decision to explore the increasingly popular genre did not come without reason.
“I’ve always loved trying new things. Coincidentally, dangdut music has been something passed down to me by my mom since I was young. So when I was offered the chance to try hipdut, I was immediately interested,” shared Mingse.
Written by Giant Prayash Trinanda, Nabil Adesya Putra, Aji Suherri, and Happy Andromeda, “Astaga Bercanda” tells the story of two people who have feelings for each other, but are held back by circumstances because one of them is already in a relationship.
“This song is about two people who like each other, but one of them already has a partner. So rather than interfering, the other chooses to wait. Instead of becoming the second choice, they would rather wait to become the first.”
Wanting to explore a musical direction that differs greatly from the genre she has pursued so far, Bunga chose the name “Mingse” as her second persona.
“The reason behind changing the name people have already known me by is to create a distinction. As bungareyza, I enjoy making serious pop-folk music. But at the same time, I wanted to experience something new in the world of hipdut. After discussions with the Sony Music team, we came to the decision to continue both projects, but under different names. It’s a way to maintain a clear boundary between Mingse, who focuses on hipdut, and bungareyza, who leans toward pop folk.”
Although this marks Mingse’s first time exploring hipdut, the production process for “Astaga Bercanda” moved quite quickly, and she admitted that performing the genre felt surprisingly natural.
“Even though it may seem very different from the genre I’ve been doing all this time, honestly, singing a hipdut song actually feels easier for me. Maybe because deep down, I already have the soul of a dangdut singer, so there weren’t really any difficulties,” she explained.
Through this new persona, Mingse also offers an entirely different vibe overall, from her musical style and appearance to the attitude she brings while performing. Still, she emphasized that both of her musical identities will continue to coexist without having to choose one over the other.
“There’s no such thing as ‘coming back’ because I never left my persona as bungareyza. Mingse and Bunga will continue moving forward with their own respective projects.”
Through “Astaga Bercanda,” Mingse hopes the song can bring positive energy to listeners through its catchy rhythm that makes everyone want to dance, paired with lighthearted and easy-to-enjoy lyrics.
The hipdut single “Astaga Bercanda” by Akbar Chalay and bungareyza under the persona Mingse is available on digital streaming platforms starting May 8, 2026.
