Bingkai Karya – What started as a meeting between producer and artist me-mai and Singapore-based Indonesian singer-songwriter Rangga Jones in the summer of 2025 has since evolved into a new collaboration also featuring Japanese R&B artist SIRUP. “One of a Kind” brings together three artists from different backgrounds who share a common musical language: R&B.

Rather than staying within the genre’s traditional boundaries, “One of a Kind” transforms those influences into a breezy house groove built for movement. Warm melodies, effortless vocals and an infectious rhythm give the track an easy sense of joy, creating a song that feels equally suited for late-night drives, dance floors and moments of quiet self-confidence.

Living up to its title, “One of a Kind” celebrates the people who leave a lasting impact on our lives while also serving as a reminder of our own individuality. The result is a feel-good anthem that balances affection, gratitude and self-worth without losing sight of the groove that drives it forward.

The collaboration took shape organically over the course of a year. After connecting in Singapore, me-mai and Rangga Jones began developing ideas together before inviting SIRUP to join the project. What followed was a cross-border creative exchange between artists connected not by geography, but by a shared love for soulful songwriting and forward-thinking production. The finished track showcases the strengths each artist brings to the table, from me-mai’s production sensibilities and Rangga Jones’ effortless melodic touch to SIRUP’s unmistakable groove-driven vocal style.

Shot in a single continuous take, the lyric video extends the song’s collaborative spirit beyond music. Featured appearances include Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu practitioners whose art traces its roots back to Japanese judo, acclaimed dancer UNO, known for performing alongside artists such as Namie Amuro and Daichi Miura, and New Jack Swing specialist TAiSHI.

Directed by visual creator Jun Usuda, who has collaborated with me-mai since “Ms. Independent”, the video transforms the song’s rhythm into a fluid display of movement, expression and connection. By bringing together musicians, dancers and athletes within a single frame, it mirrors the cross-cultural spirit that shaped the song itself.

Like “One of a Kind”, the visual finds unity through different perspectives, cultures and forms of expression. It is a fitting companion to a track that began with a simple conversation and evolved into a collaboration spanning countries, creative disciplines and communities.

The release also arrives as SIRUP continues his Asia tour, a fitting backdrop for a song built on connection across borders, cultures and creative communities.

With “One of a Kind”, SIRUP, me-mai and Rangga Jones prove that great collaborations don’t need to force a connection. Sometimes they simply grow from a shared groove.
