Bingkai Karya – Aruma, the 2023 Anugerah Musik Indonesia Best New Artist winner, continues her musical journey with the release of her latest single, “Jalan Buntu.” Available on digital music platforms starting August 14, 2026, the song explores the emotional uncertainty of remaining in a relationship that may no longer have a clear direction, while still holding on to hope.
“Jalan Buntu” was born from Aruma’s reflection on how someone can unexpectedly enter our lives and make us afraid of losing them, even when we were once comfortable being alone. The song follows someone who realizes that their relationship may have reached a dead end, yet chooses to stay because hope remains. At its core, the track examines the difficult choice between losing someone we love and slowly losing ourselves by holding on for too long.
For the production, Aruma reunited with Dimas Wibisana, alongside Willmara, bringing together the lyrics and story she had written with their musical ideas. Through a collaborative process, the team explored several approaches before finding the arrangement that best represented the story.
The single also reveals a more vulnerable and slightly darker side of Aruma. Unlike some of her previous work, which focused on accepting what has happened or finding the strength to rise again, “Jalan Buntu” stays in the middle of the process when someone is still confused, hopeful, and afraid of losing the person they love.
“I didn’t want the song to feel like it was explaining something. I want listeners to have the space to interpret and feel the story through their own experiences,” Aruma said, emphasizing her intention to let listeners connect the song with their own stories.
“Jalan Buntu” is also part of a larger story within Aruma’s upcoming EP, which is currently in development. While the single captures a moment of questioning whether to stay or leave, Aruma reveals that the EP will explore that journey in different directions.
Ultimately, Aruma hopes the song encourages listeners to listen to themselves and recognize when it may be time to choose their own well-being. “Jalan Buntu” is intended to accompany anyone standing at that emotional crossroads still loving, still hoping, but beginning to understand that sometimes coming home means returning to ourselves.
