Bingkai Karya – British indie-pop singer-songwriter Rachel Chinouriri has released her second studio album, ‘I think I spoke too soon’, via Atlas Artists / Parlophone Records. Building on her signature blend of pop, indie, and rock, the 12-track project explores the contradictions of personal growth, the tension between who we are and who we want to become, and the importance of learning to forgive ourselves.
The album continues Chinouriri’s exploration of her inner world through intimate songwriting and dynamic musical arrangements. Rather than presenting personal growth as a straightforward journey, the record embraces the uncertainty and complexity of change, offering listeners a vulnerable reflection on the process of questioning, learning, and evolving.
At the heart of the release is “Pretty girls,” the album’s focus track, which celebrates women, self-confidence, and the freedom to express oneself without fear of judgment. Chinouriri describes the song as an anthem for women and those who support them, embracing a broad spectrum of identities, including straight, queer, trans, and masculine women, as well as non-binary people. Through its message, the track encourages listeners to embrace their individuality and recognize their own beauty.
The accompanying music video, directed by Dora Paphides, brings this message to life through a euphoric celebration of womanhood. Centered on self-expression, embodiment, and freedom, the visual captures the confidence and joy that define the song, reinforcing its message of acceptance and individuality.
Featuring the previously released singles “One song away from crying,” “Make believe,” and “Broken chair,” the album expands on Chinouriri’s distinctive combination of pop, indie, and rock influences. Across its 12 tracks, she examines the relationship between internal thoughts and outward actions, confronting the differences between one’s present identity and personal aspirations.
For Chinouriri, change is not something to fear but an opportunity for growth. “My core thing is you can change who you are at any moment and you can forgive yourself at any moment,” she says. “And I think forgiving yourself is the first step in becoming a better person”. This perspective anchors the album’s central message: people can make mistakes, reconsider their choices, and move forward without being defined by their past.
Chinouriri has established herself as one of the United Kingdom’s prominent young songwriters. Her 2024 debut album, ‘What A Devastating Turn of Events’, earned two BRIT Award nominations for Artist of the Year and Best New Artist. With more than 500 million global streams to her name, she continues to build on her reputation for perceptive lyricism and emotionally vivid storytelling.
‘I think I spoke too soon’ is available to stream now. Listeners can also watch the official music video for “Pretty girls” and explore the album’s full tracklist through Rachel Chinouriri’s official channels.
