Bingkai Karya — Indonesian artists Matter Mos and Dere released their first collaborative single, “Senyum Tidurnya,” on October 16, 2026. Bringing together Matter Mos’s hip-hop sensibilities and Dere’s rhythmic guitar playing, the track explores a simple yet deeply relatable hope: finding peace amid life’s uncertainties and having a moment when the mind, soul, and heart can finally rest.
At its core, “Senyum Tidurnya” expresses the longing for a sense of calm that allows people to put aside their restless thoughts and embrace a peaceful moment. Rather than offering definitive answers to life’s uncertainties, the song captures the hope of finding comfort in the middle of them.
Sharing similar backgrounds as fellow East Jakarta natives, Matter Mos and Dere found that their creative process came together naturally. What began as an idea to involve Dere in an existing project eventually developed into an entirely new collaboration, completed in approximately four hours.
“As fellow East Jakarta kids, I just wanted to collaborate with Dere,” said Matter Mos, whose real name is Fadhil Alamudi. “At first, I wanted to involve Dere in a project that already existed. But when Dere came over to my house, I thought, why not create something completely new together? The process took four hours. We just worked on it, found the melody, worked on the lyrics, and everything else. Jinan also shared ideas while we were working on the project.”
For Dere, the collaboration also brought an old musical idea back to life. The guitar melody featured in “Senyum Tidurnya” had been in his mind for approximately two years, but he had yet to find the right setting for it. Working with Matter Mos finally gave the melody a fitting home.
“The guitar melody for ‘Senyum Tidurnya’ had been in my head for around two years,” Dere explained. “But it felt like the guitar sound needed to find the right home. Then, when I was writing with Matter Mos, the idea came back, and the atmosphere felt just right.” The two recorded the guitar, developed the drum beat and pitch, and worked on the lyrics together until the song took shape.
Alongside the audio release, “Senyum Tidurnya” also arrives with a visual video directed by Jovian Fraajie. Inspired by the track’s groovy rhythm, the video features silhouettes of Matter Mos and Dere dancing against contrasting light and shadow in three colors. Each color reflects a different emotional layer of the song: orange represents enthusiasm, blue symbolizes doubt, and green brings the two together as a representation of hope.
The decision to incorporate dance also grew naturally from the artists’ previous experiences. Matter Mos had danced in the music video for “Sujud,” while Dere had done the same in “Puspa.” The upbeat rhythm of “Senyum Tidurnya” inspired them to bring movement into this release as well.
“Senyum Tidurnya” is now available on various digital music platforms, inviting listeners to find their own moments of calm and hope through the collaboration. With its blend of musical textures and a visual narrative rooted in the song’s emotional message, the release offers a reminder that even amid uncertainty, a little peace remains worth hoping for.
