Bingkai Karya – Japanese three-piece band muque introduces “いいんじゃない Just As You Are,” a new single serving as the theme song for Extraordinary Attorney Minami (南田南弁護士は天才肌), a drama starring Mana Ashida. Marking the band’s first time creating a drama theme song, the release explores self-acceptance, personal struggles, and the search for belonging through sincere lyrics and a polished pop sound.
The drama follows Minami, a rookie lawyer with autism spectrum disorder who navigates social challenges and handles difficult cases through her distinctive perspective and flashes of insight. Written with the protagonist’s journey in mind, “Just As You Are” reflects the experience of finding one’s place in the world while navigating relationships with others. Rather than demanding change to fit in, the song offers gentle reassurance to anyone learning to embrace their individuality.
Musically, the single brings together muque’s experiences across a range of styles into a cohesive J-pop production. Shaped through experimentation and a process of trial and error, the track balances an accessible pop sound with the warmth and sincerity of its central message. Its musical direction reflects the band’s approach to developing a distinctive identity while remaining emotionally connected to its listeners.
The release also continues muque’s visual collaboration with illustrator HIZGI, who previously created the artwork for the band’s single “たりない Still Not Enough.” The new illustration features the familiar blue-haired girl from the previous cover, now wearing a puppet of a father cat on her hand. By incorporating motifs that evoke the drama’s world, the artwork extends the character’s story while preserving the playful visual identity associated with muque.
The single arrives as the band prepares to enter another milestone in its career. Muque will kick off its fifth anniversary with an event titled “SAVE POINT,” scheduled for Friday, 5 February 2027, at KT Zepp Yokohama in Kanagawa, Japan. The occasion marks another chapter for the trio as it continues to develop its musical direction.
Muque consists of Asakura on vocals and guitar, takachi on drums and track-making, and Kenichi on guitar. At the heart of its creative process, takachi leads track production and arrangements, while Asakura shapes the music through her melodies and lyrics. Their complementary approaches combine contemporary global influences with a subtle traditional Japanese sensibility, brought together by Asakura’s expressive vocal delivery.
