A Raw Blast from the Past: Radiohead Drops New Live Album Hail to the Thief Live Recordings 2003–2009

Bingkai KaryaAugust 13, 2025Radiohead has officially announced the release of Hail to the Thief Live Recordings 2003–2009, a brand-new live album that gives the band a chance to revisit their relationship with their sixth studio record, Hail to the Thief. Alongside the announcement, the band has shared a live performance video of There, There from Buenos Aires, now available to watch online.

The album is out digitally today, with a special physical edition set to drop on Friday, October 31. This collection captures live performances recorded between 2003 and 2009 in London, Amsterdam, Buenos Aires, and Dublin. Mixing was handled by Ben Baptie, with mastering by Matt Colton.

Speaking about the new release, Thom Yorke shared ,“While working on arrangements for the Shakespeare Hamlet/Hail to the Thief theater production, I asked to hear some archival live recordings of those songs. I was shocked by the sheer energy in how we played back then. I barely recognized ourselves and that helped me find a way forward. We decided to mix and release these live recordings (it felt insane to keep them to ourselves). It’s been a deeply cathartic process for us. We really hope you enjoy it.”

The vinyl edition will also be available in limited-edition red at independent record stores, and an exclusive cyan version through Radiohead’s own W.A.S.T.E. store.

Recently, Thom Yorke co-created Hamlet Hail to the Thief, a unique adaptation of Shakespeare’s Hamlet, paired with reimagined music from the Hail to the Thief (2003) album. Rolling Stone UK praised the production, saying “The biggest proof of Yorke and his co-writer’s success is how seamlessly these worlds fuse together, as if they were always destined to be one.”
