Bingkai Karya-Shye, a Singaporean singer-songwriter and producer has just released her new single “coffee or tea.” It’s a sweet and romantic song, perfect for falling in love. Inspired by rainy day scenes from Korean, Japanese, and Thai romance dramas.
“Writing this song makes me want to fall in love too,” shares Shye. “It was inspired by rainy day umbrella scenes from romance dramas. I hope this song can resonate with listeners whether or not they’ve already found their person. If they have, I hope it can soundtrack parts of their life and be a song that they can slow dance to. For those who are longing for a future with someone, love can seem elusive but maybe this song can help us dream about finding our own person.”
About Shye
Shye is an independent artist from Singapore who does it all. She writes, records, produces, mixes, and masters her own music from home. Her style blends dreamy indie/electronic pop with alternative rock.
Shye started her music journey at 16 when she won a music competition unexpectedly. Since then, she has released an EP, several albums, and has played at major music festivals like SXSW in Texas and Baybeats in Singapore. She’s also opened for international artists like Daniel Caesar, Clairo, and Men I Trust during their Singapore shows.
In 2022, Shye was on “Best New Act from Asia” at the BandLab NME Awards and won KKBOX’s “Rising Star Award.” This year, she is also on the list of Tatler Asia’s “Leaders of Tomorrow” and is on the covers of FEMALE Magazine and A plus Magazine.
