An Heartful Anthem About Emotional Dynamics In Friendships As Well As Romantic Relationships ,FIG Unveils Her Latest EP “FITS”

Bingkai Karya– In her sophomore release, “FITS”, FIG, a Philippine-born, Singapore-raised Malaysian indie pop/R&B singer-songwriter based in New York City, explores the emotional journey of friendships and relationships, from beginning to end. FIG explores the complexities of love and companionship with beautiful vocals and lush beats, guiding listeners through connection and closure.

FIG explains that the project explores the idea of internal “fits” as a metaphor for inner turmoil and self-conversations, exploring extreme or unconventional actions to reconnect with one’s true self. “I also examined the dynamics of forming and ending relationships, focusing on the mental frustrations involved and how these experiences contribute to self-discovery.”

The new project features production from MICHELLE collaborators Julian Kaufman and Charlie Kilgore, Frankie Scoca (NewJeans, dhruv), Nick Catrambone, and Maya Polsky, with rapper Yoshi T. featuring on the lead single “Opposite Day” released last month. The project’s creative vision is inspired by huge things and scale, exploring the notion of extreme consumption for self-reconnection. “Many of these songs emerged from conversations with peers, where we exchanged personal experiences and ideas,” FIG says. “Previously, I used to hold back on sharing ideas until they seemed ‘perfect,’ but now I communicate all thoughts, regardless of quality.”

“This technique enabled me to avoid overthinking and foster an open creative process. I also explored writing about emotions like love and grief, which I had hitherto avoided. The indie R&B single “Boyfriend” addresses the tension in a one-sided friendship, with brooding instrumentation and catchy lyrics expressing self-doubt and overthinking when unspoken. “Boyfriend” is a poignant song about letting go of harmful friendships and valuing oneself.”

“FITS” includes self-reflection pieces like “Solo Dates” and “Let It Burn” that highlight the beauty of solitude. The artist explores the value of independence and self-discovery through songs, asking listeners to share in her journey of vulnerability, growth, and self-discovery through interactions with others.
