Arca Reclaims Power and Vulnerability in Dual Release “Puta / Sola” – A Sonic Rebirth of Sensuality and Self-Love

Bingkai Karya“‘Puta and Sola’ are songs I’ve perfected over the years. Taking time to write, record, produce, and mix them slowly on my own was crucial to achieving the right musical result. I’m very proud of these songs, and both Daniel Sannwald and Stillz are geniuses, their videos are incredible. The themes in the lyrics encompass luxurious sensuality for the dance floor in ‘Puta,’ as well as the vulnerability of tenderness and love in ‘Sola.’ I hope these songs bring joy, comfort, and confidence to all my fellow mutants!”
— Arca

Arca returns with her latest double single, Puta / Sola. Although each track exists in its own distinct sonic world, they are released together to symbolize the complementary power of the liminal, beauty in androgyny, and the integration of masculine and feminine energies that can harmonize within each individual. This is a gesture in response to dualistic thinking, bridging the spectrum between opposites, a quantum entanglement between light and shadow, a call for deeper nuance, intersectionality (a concept introduced by Kimberlé Crenshaw), and an inclusive future.

First teased back in February on Arca’s social media and performed live during her Coachella set on April 13 during the festival’s first weekend, Puta celebrates fierce, playful confidence, its ability to ignite, inspire, and uplift, while Sola unfolds as a shimmering, celestial love song. Both singles are released today, each with their own music video starring Arca: Puta directed by Stillz and Sola directed by Daniel Sannwald.

Over the past half-year, Arca has released a remix of Addison Rae’s “Aquamarine” titled “Arcamarine,” a collaborative track “Chama” with Tokischa, and a remix of Hikaru Utada’s “Electricity”, all three performed with Arca on the Coachella stage during both weekends. Since the phenomenal KICK pentalogy in 2021, a body of work that elevated her from experimental avant-garde to Venezuelan pop icon and electronic music trailblazer, Arca has continued to create relentlessly.

Now, with each new revelation, the line between rumor and revelation grows ever blurrier. One can’t help but wonder: is the phoenix beginning to rise from the ashes?
