Bingkai Karya – The wait is over. Adikara has finally released his debut full-length album, “Klise”, on May 30, 2025. This album marks a significant milestone in Adikara’s musical journey, one that has already produced several hits like “Katakan Saja” and “Primadona.” It also signals a vibrant new wave in Indonesian pop music.
“Klise” is a reflection of Adikara’s experiences in love, a story many can relate to. Comprising ten tracks, the album traces the phases of romantic relationships: from initial attraction, fantasies of a relationship, expressing feelings, searching for meaning, jealousy, to heartbreak.
“This album honestly contains all the phases of love I’ve been through,” said Adikara. “Looking back, I was like, ‘Wow, my relationships have really been like this.’ And the more I thought about it, I realized other people have felt the same way. That’s when I saw this whole story as something ‘cliché’, klise.”
“Klise” also embodies Adikara’s personal struggle with and love for music. After parting ways with his previous label, he embraced an independent path, which led him to deeper self-discovery. Adikara wrote all the songs on this album and was directly involved in the music production, making “Klise” a pure representation of his passion for jazz, soul, funk, and R\&B.
“Sonically, I was inspired by the soul sound of the 1980s, Quincy Jones and the like. We recorded some songs using real Rhodes and authentic analog synths to capture that era’s vibe. At the time I was writing this album, I was listening to Quincy Jones a lot. I made music that matched what I was into,” Adikara explained.
He brought in Taufan Wirzon as producer, believing that Taufan could best translate his musical vision. Mixing and mastering were handled by Rayendra Sunito.
The album includes several previously released singles like “Katakan Saja,” “Primadona,” “Nirwana,” and “Rindu”, a collaboration with Andien. For this album release, however, Adikara chose “Kembali” as the focus track.
“The focus track is ‘Kembali.’ This song really represents me. Lyrically, it says what I want to say to someone. Arrangement-wise, this is the kind of music I love to play,” said Adikara. “Kembali” also features Ilman Ibrahim, who played vintage Rhodes keys, adding to the song’s strong 80s soul atmosphere.
“Klise” is crafted as a complete narrative. Adikara carefully considered the dramaturgy of love, a dynamic, cyclical journey that repeats itself until one finds the right partner and makes a lifelong commitment. That’s why he chose “Love Again” as the closing track: it creates a circular listening experience, looping back into the opening track “Kembali.”
“These songs depict the cycles of romantic life. I believe everyone’s love journey goes through cycles. Some go through it multiple times before meeting the right person, while others only go through it once or twice. ‘Love Again’ tells you that even if everything falls apart, you must love again,go back to the start. ‘Kembali.’ The cycle continues,” said Adikara.
Adikara hopes this album evokes deep emotions in listeners and stirs memories of their own complex love stories.
“I imagine this album being played after your wedding reception. You take a moment to sit quietly, reflecting on the journey of love, thinking of all the people who were once part of your life , and realizing how you arrived at this point, ready to commit forever,” he said.
“Klise” is now available in digital format on all major streaming platforms, released under Pagoda House, the independent label and management founded by Adikara himself.
