Madukina’s Sinden
Bingkai Karya – Madukina, a talented sinden singer, returns to lend her voice to the original soundtrack of “Badarawuhi di Desa Penari” (Badarawuhi in Dancer Village) Hailing from a family of artists in Gunung Kawi, Malang, she also had the opportunity to duet with her father, Matoha Mino, on this project.
Entitled “Dawuh,” the sinden song has a unique story behind its creation. Written by Madukina and Matoha Mino, the song took a different approach to preserve the sacredness of the sinden tradition.
Respecting Tradition
The creation of “Dawuh” was not taken lightly. Madukina and her father still believe in the local customs. In addition to reading the film’s script, the making of the sinden “Dawuh” also went through the “among-among” process, a customary ritual to ask permission from the ancestors.
The Dawuh
Similar to the film, the dawuh is a figure chosen to become Badarawuhi’s follower. The sinden song tells the story of how the dawuh is believed to exist on this earth.
Music Video
The creation of the official music video for “Dawuh” was also inspired by the film “Badarawuhi in Dancer Village.” Through the creative process and direction of Prialangga, the music video features many similar settings to the film. Madukina is depicted as a calon dawuh (future dawuh), while Badarawuhi and Matoha Mino are portrayed as Mbah Buyut and lelembut (spirits).
