BI Supplies 5,066 New Money Exchange Points for Ramadan 2023

Bank Indonesia (BI) provides money exchange services at 5,066 branch offices throughout Indonesia to meet the needs of the public during Ramadan and Eid. Erwin Haryono, Head of Communications at BI, said that his party is providing cash of 195 trillion for money exchange services. Compared to the previous year, this figure has increased by 8.22% from the realization in 2022 with 5,066 money exchange service points, an increase of 377 points from the previous year.

“The anticipation of this increase takes into account the revocation of the status of Easing Restrictions on Community Activities (PPKM), improving economic growth and increasing community mobilization,” Erwin said. BI also invites the public to optimize payment for non-cash transactions to support the digital economy and finance.

In addition to 5,066 exchange service points, BI also provides options for exchanging money through mobile cash at crowded centers such as terminals, markets, and stations, as well as mobile cash along rivers, especially in South Sumatra, South Kalimantan, and Central Kalimantan.

Specifically for the DKI Jakarta area, from 3 to 14 April 2023, Bank Indonesia will work with 16 banks in the DKI Jakarta area to implement joint mobile cash services. Meanwhile, on April 15-19 2023, BI will add exchange service locations on the mudik route through the BI Cares Mudik program, namely toll road rest areas in Java, Lampung, Palembang and Merak, Bakauheni, Ketapang, and Gilimanuk. For exchange services in mudik routes, people do not need to order in advance through the PINTAR application.

All of these plans are integrated into SERAMBI 2023 (Semarak Rupiah Ramadan dan Berkah Idul Fitri), a series of activities to meet money needs and provide cash services to the public during Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr in 2023. BI invites the public to pay close attention to the characteristics of genuine Rupiah cash by always applying 3D (Dilihat/seen, Diraba/touched, Diterawang/looked through).
