Charlotte Day Wilson Releases New Album “Cyan Blue,” Embarking New Chapter with Childhood Nostalgia

Bingkai Karya-Toronto-born singer, songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist Charlotte Day Wilson releases two new singles, “My Way” and “Cyan Blue.” Soulful and poetic, “My Way” evokes passion with its ethereal lyrics and Charlotte’s beautiful vocals. Inspired by the blue-green hue of Wilson’s irises, the album’s title track “Cyan Blue” is a transcendent and simple ballad, embracing the emotional palette of the album. Both songs come with lyrical visualizers that produce a beautiful sound.

Wilson approached the creation of “Cyan Blue” as though he were weaving his timeless influences: heavy gospel piano, rich soul basslines, moody electronics, and snappy R&B melodies into a cyan tapestry. Nonetheless, it conveys the general idea that Wilson is embarking on a new chapter in her life, tinged with nostalgia, melancholy, and childhood recollections. Regarding the creation of “Cyan Blue”, “I wanted to see through my younger eyes again,” Wilson said.

Cyan Blue”, which features collaborations with producers Leon Thomas (SZA, Ariana Grande, Post Malone) and Jack Rochon (Beyoncé, H.E.R, Daniel Caesar), showcases Wilson’s skill with sound design and her time-traveling musical evolution. He keeps using music to analyze relationships, which helps him meet and understand himself from a wide perspective that encompasses all aspects of life.

Wilson’s musical influence has had a significant impact on mainstream music, despite the fact that this is only her second album. Wilson first gained recognition in 2016 with her critically lauded EP, CDW. She then released her highly anticipated debut studio album, Alpha, on her own in 202. Drake, John Mayer, James Blake, and other artists have sampled Wilson’s work in the last ten years, and Patti Smith recently recorded and complemented Wilson’s 2016 track, “Work.” Furthermore, Wilson has worked with musicians like SG Lewis, BADBADNOTGOOD, Kaytranada, and Snoh Aalegra, demonstrating that he can apply his cyan color magic to any sound. Wilson’s 2024 tour is scheduled to begin on May 15.
