Chinese and Americans Rush to Get “New Thai Talent Visa”

Thailand announced a new visa, known as the Long-Term Resident visa, in September as a part of its plan to attract talent from all over the world. In the three months since it was introduced, more than 1,600 people have applied for Thailand’s new high-skilled worker visa.

The visa provides its holders a 10-year stay in the nation as well as a reduced personal income tax rate. This visa aims to draw foreign professionals in fields like biotechnology and electric vehicles, as well as wealthy retirees and remote employees who want to work from Thailand. (Clonazepam)

According to the secretary-general of Thailand’s Board of Investment, Narit Therdsteerasukdi, the applicants who have submitted applications so far are “mainly remote employees and retirees, although highly skilled people also have a high number.” He stated that Americans were the largest nationality, followed by Chinese, British, and Germans.

Thailand, Southeast Asia’s second-largest economy, will benefit from this new visa. Narit expects that the diversification of supply chains by multinational corporations will spur development in Thailand in industries including automation, robotics, aviation, and medicine.

Thailand is expected to expand 3.2% this year and 3% to 4% next year, owing primarily to the revival of the tourism sector, which amounted for almost 20% of Thailand’s gross domestic product prior to the epidemic. However, with its population rapidly aging, the government intends to improve Thai industries by encouraging investment and attracting talent to high tech.
