Bingkai Karya – Drizzly, Sidoarjo’s fantasy pop group, has released a brand-new song titled “I Would Never.” The song originally belongs to Mocca, a pop group based in Bandung. Faye on guitar, Cilo on drums, Moza on bass, and Manda on voice tried to bring their unique touches to this timeless song.
“This is one of the most exciting projects for us. Personally, one of our musical muse is Mocca and once we were aware of this project, of course, we accepted it with much enthusiasm. Initially, we were offered two songs “I Think I’m in Love” and “I Would Never” to be covered. We chose the latter since this song is more compatible with our music character,” said the band who have previously released 1 EP and 1 split EP.
Different from its original version that boasted sweet jangly acoustic guitar, “I Would Never” a la Drizzly is significantly influenced by dream pop elements, including the band’s distinctive electric guitar melodies and heavy reverbs. Manda’s charming vocal blends beautifully within this 20-year old track. As a surprise, Mocca’s lovely vocalist Arina Ephipania also lent her voice in this song.
The band who debuted in 2022 admitted that they have concerns while arranging the aforementioned song. However, they could put their worries behind, after getting a stamp of approval from Mocca’s members when they listened to the new dream pop version of “I Would Never.”
Becoming the first project that the band released under Sun Eater, Drizzly marks a new milestone in their musical career. “It began when we met Dennis, who is in charge of A&R in Sun Eater, went to Surabaya for business purposes and he noticed our band and there was an intention to pull us into this label. Since then, we talked to Dennis and Kukuh a lot through meetings and there was a lot of insight into the music industry,” they continued.
Bearing similar vision, Drizzly is ready to take their career a step further with their new label. “We would love to approach our musical career in a more serious and well prepared manner. We hope this endeavor could lead to more opportunities in the future and #StartNewJourney,” said the band in their closing statement. In the near future, this dream pop quartet also plans to reveal more surprises to accompany this release. Eventually, on July 18, 2024, “I Would Never” will be available on digital streaming services.
