Bingkai Karya-Juliet Ivy, a rising singer-songwriter from New York City, has just released her new EP titled “tiny but scary.” This latest work dives into her own experiences as a young woman in the 21st century.

“Girlhood is really present in this project—all the ever-changing, complicated, intertwined emotions of being a young girl,” Juliet says. While the songs reflect her current life, they also weave in her past experiences. Her honest and imaginative lyrics, paired with her soothing melodies, invite listeners into her world. She explains, “This project is like a deeper dive into my personal thoughts and feelings, giving fans a closer look at who I am after my first EP, ‘playpen,’ which was more about how I saw things outside myself.”

About Juliet Ivy

At 23, Juliet Ivy grew up in a Colombian-Chinese family in NYC and studied songwriting at NYU’s Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music. She started creating music as a freshman and soon began working with producers around the city. During one session, Juliet discovered her passion for writing lyrics, realizing how much she loved focusing on words.

This new focus led her to explore deeper themes in her music, like existential questions and the journey of growing up. Her first single, “breakfast song,” reflects on the challenges of navigating life, which inspired her to create her debut EP, “playpen.”

Released at the end of 2023, “playpen” features the hit single “we’re all eating each other,” which topped Spotify’s Global Viral 50 and earned over 65 million streams. Juliet has continued to blend thoughtful themes with playful, imaginative lyrics, creating a unique sound.

Last month she wrapped her first-ever headline tour, including a performance at Head in the Clouds Festival in NYC, as well as a sold-out debut show in London and an appearance at The Great Escape in Brighton, UK
