Farrel Hilal Ventures into Pop Ballad with His Third Single “Dirimu yang Lain”

Bingkai Karya – Following the success of his first two singles, which captivated local music lovers with his soulful voice, Farrel Hilal is set to entertain once again with his third single, “Dirimu yang Lain”, releasing at the end of January.

This new track features an acoustic vibe and organic sounds, marking a shift from his earlier R&B-leaning releases to a pop ballad style. The young soloist was eager to experiment with this genre, which presented a unique challenge for him.

“I’ve been into R&B and soul music lately, both listening and creating. Writing a pop ballad, especially with organic instruments like strings and others, was quite a challenge. But I saw it as an opportunity to sharpen my production skills,”shared the 27th November 2000-born artist.

The creative process for “Dirimu yang Lain” spanned from February to May 2024. Farrel drew inspiration from the songs he frequently performed at weddings. “Since I often get invited to sing at weddings, I thought about creating a song centered around eternal love, love that remains unshaken, even when the person is no longer physically present. The idea is to express the lasting impact of a deep, transformative love,” Farrel explained.

The track’s theme revolves around the enduring nature of love, transcending distance and even loss. “It’s about having a love that never fades. Whether far, near, or gone forever, the love lingers because it’s not just love they’ve given you—it’s a part of who you’ve become.”

Farrel credits the experience from his first two singles for shaping his approach to this release. Since signing with Sony Music Entertainment Indonesia, he’s had to adapt and refine his craft.

“From my previous singles, I learned to create songs that I love while aligning with Sony Music’s vision to expand my market. This involves blending popular genres with my personal preferences. I’ve worked to make my music easy-listening yet satisfying for me as an artist. I’ve applied those lessons in ‘Dirimu yang Lain’, and I hope music lovers out there will respond as positively as they did to ‘Di Selatan Jakarta’ and ‘Take It Slow.'”

Starting 2025 with optimism, Farrel hopes to continue creating music that brings change to those he loves, his surroundings, and his generation. While he hasn’t planned on shifting to a new genre just yet, he remains open to the possibility.

“I write music almost every day, so there’s always a chance to explore new genres. Recently, I shared a few tracks on Instagram inspired by the trending hipdude genre, and the response was great. Who knows, there might be more cross-genre experiments in the future—stay tuned!”

ABOUT FARREL HILAL

His debut single, “Di Selatan Jakarta”, was inspired by his habit of cruising through South Jakarta with his partner. The follow-up single, “Take It Slow”, maintained a similar vibe but with more romantic lyrics, inviting listeners to revel in the joy of nighttime drives.
