FLAVS Music Festival 2023: Celebrating 30 Years of Hip Hop and Uniting All Walks of Life

The FLAVS music festival presented by Visicita Network took place on October 14 and 15, 2023, at Gambir Expo Kemayoran. This year’s event was particularly special as it coincided with the 30th-anniversary celebration of hip hop in Indonesia. Visitors were treated to an unforgettable experience.

At FLAVS, visitors were taken on a journey through a corridor filled with the history of hip hop musicians in Indonesia from the 1980s to the present day. This was a tribute to the genre’s long history in Indonesia. Yacko, the Program Director of FLAVS, emphasized the importance of celebrating differences within the hip hop ecosystem, hoping that this celebration would continue to foster the hip hop culture in Indonesia.

Under the theme “Unity,” FLAVS featured a variety of performers who graced the Boombox Stage, Rhyme & Grind Stage, Bounce Stage, and Downtown Cypher Stage with a shared spirit. Collaborations between artists were common, and special moments paying tribute to legendary hip hop musicians like Iwa K and Glenn Fredly were highlights of the event.

FLAVS was not just about music; it also offered various activities such as workshops, talk shows, DJ performances, cap auctions, temporary tattoos, and various merchandise stands showcasing Indonesian hip hop culture. The festival successfully brought together people from all walks of life and served as proof that hip hop is a powerful force in Indonesian music.
