Bingkai Karya – Talented young singer Rachel Cia, also known by her stage name RACH?, will be making a new step in her musical career. The singer, known for her modern pop songs, will be heading to Japan for an international collaboration project with Japanese musician idom.
Interestingly, RACH?’s presence in Japan is part of an official invitation from Sony Music Japan to participate in a cross-border music project. RACH? will be joining producer F4dli. “Yes, that’s right! This trip to Japan was actually due to an official invitation from Sony Music Japan for a collaboration project,” said Rachel.
While in Japan, RACH? has prepared several important agendas. One of them is the release of a collaborative song with idom, a musician under Sony Music Japan. In addition to releasing new music, RACH? and idom are also scheduled to perform together in a special performance at Billboard Live Tokyo 2026.
“The main plan is to release a collaboration song with idom called “Call It Love”. He’s a musician under Sony Music Japan. Then we’ll also perform together at Billboard Live Tokyo 2026,” she said. RACH? admitted that the collaboration began unexpectedly. Last February, she received a collaboration offer from Sony Music Japan, which is paying close attention to the development of Indonesian music.
“At first, it was unexpected. So last February, suddenly, a collaboration offer came in from Sony Music Japan. It turns out they’re really curious about the current music trends in Indonesia,” she said. This interest prompted the Sony Music Japan team to come directly to Indonesia. Within four days, they worked on two songs together with the support of local producers Gamal and Fadli.
“It didn’t take long; they came straight to Indonesia. Here, we worked very intensively on two songs in just four days, with the help of our local producers, Gamal and Fadli,” RACH? continued. After the creative process was completed, an offer came to Japan to perform the collaborative songs live at the release. “Not long after that, Idom told me he was having a concert. He was really enthusiastic and invited me to come to Japan so I could perform the songs live there at the release,” she said.
Through this project, RACH? hopes the collaboration won’t stop at just one release. She wants the collaboration to be the beginning of a closer relationship between the Indonesian and Japanese music industries. “I definitely hope this doesn’t stop at this one project, but can be the beginning of a solid connection between musicians in Indonesia and Japan. I really want this release to pave the way for our local musicians to go international, and vice versa. Hopefully, the impact can enrich our music ecosystem with global collaborations like this,” she explained.
Personally, RACH? also hopes that the musical experience in Japan will broaden her creative exploration as a musician. “Personally, I hope this can be a gateway to broader musical exploration and gain new perspectives from outside,” she concluded. “Call It Love” will be released on July 18, 2026.
