Glass Beams Announce New EP “Mahal” and UK/EU Tour

Bingkai Karya – Melbourne-based trio Glass Beams have announced their highly anticipated new EP, “Mahal,” set for release on March 22nd via their new label home, Ninja Tune. The announcement comes alongside the release of the EP’s title track, also titled “Mahal,” and news of a string of UK/EU shows in April.

The Band’s Story and Musical Inspiration:

Glass Beams, formed around founding member Rajan Silva, draw inspiration from Silva’s childhood memories and his father’s experiences. Growing up, Silva watched the “Concert for George” DVD featuring Indian sitar legend Ravi Shankar and Western icons like Eric Clapton and Paul McCartney. This fusion of East and West, along with his father’s record collection spanning Bollywood vocals and blues legends, left a lasting impression on Silva, influencing the band’s sound.

Their Sound and Debut Success:

Glass Beams describe their music as a “timeless fusion of cultures and sounds beamed through a prism of live instrumentation and DIY electronica,” wrapped in a “mesmerizing and mystical visual world.” Their debut EP, “Mirage,” released in 2021, found success through social media, streaming services, and word-of-mouth, with vinyl copies selling out quickly.

“Mahal” and Upcoming Tour:

Following the success of “Mirage,” Glass Beams toured extensively, performing their debut material and unreleased tracks that garnered millions of views online. Now, they present “Mahal,” a 20-minute record recorded in their home studio. The EP release will be followed by a UK/EU tour in April.
