Bingkai Karya – Icelandic-Chinese artist Laufey, based in Los Angeles, is celebrating her first GRAMMY nomination in the Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album category, alongside notable artists like Bruce Springsteen and Liz Callaway. Laufey, a multi-talented individual working as a composer, producer, and multi-instrumentalist, has recently extended her partnership with AWAL, her label partner, following the success of her GRAMMY-nominated album ‘Bewitched.’

As part of this year’s Holiday-themed Spotify Singles, Laufey has released a cover of “Winter Wonderland,” describing it as a tribute to the warmth of Christmastime at her family’s home in Iceland. Her journey in the music industry began with the release of her debut single “Street by Street” in 2020, which topped the Icelandic radio charts. Her debut full-length album, ‘Everything I Know About Love,’ reached #1 on Billboard’s Alternative New Artist Album chart in 2022, featuring the hit track “Valentine.”

Laufey’s sophomore album, ‘Bewitched,’ released in September, set a record as the biggest debut for a jazz album on Spotify. It achieved high rankings on various charts, including #2 on Spotify’s Global and U.S. Album Charts and #23 on the Billboard 200. The album’s single “From The Start” is currently the most streamed jazz song in the U.S. this year.

Expressing gratitude for AWAL’s support, Laufey highlighted the label’s commitment to her creative autonomy. Raised between Reykjavík and Washington, D.C., with annual visits to Beijing, Laufey is currently on a sold-out North American tour, with additional sold-out dates in the UK and EU scheduled for next year. With over 1 billion streams across all platforms, she holds the title of the biggest streaming artist from Iceland globally.
