Indonesia Sat On 3rd Rank in SEA Games 2021 Vietnam

SEA Games 2021 Vietnam was held from May 12 to May 23, 2022 in Hanoi, Vietnam. Indonesia took part in one of the biggest olympics in Southeast Asia with sending 499 athletes, 214 officials, and 63 advisors. Indonesia participated in 318 sport branches from 32 sports. 

Proudly, Indonesia sat on the 3rd rank of SEA Games 2021 Vietnam with 69 gold medals, 92 silvers, and 81 coppers. From those 32 sport branches, the 3 of them were general champions: archery, shooting, and volleyball. Meanwhile, fencing, athletics, swimming, and pencak silat were not able to give medals. 

Shooting is the sport that contributes the most medals with 8 golds, 6 silvers, and 2 coppers. Meanwhile, archery gave 5 golds and 1 silver. All the targets from these two branches were completed. 

Vietnam sat on the 1st rank with 439 medals and Thailand in 2nd place with 326 medals. The Minister of Youth and Sports, Zainudin Amali, said that compared to SEA Games Philippines, Indonesia sent less athletes. Yet, the achievement met the expectation of medals target and reaching top 3. Besides being grateful of this accomplishment, he also thanked the athletes, the Chef de Mission, Komite Olimpiade Indonesia (KOI), Komite Olahraga Nasional Indonesia (KONI), and the Indonesian Ambassador to Vietnam.
