Bingkai Karya – On May 16, indie-pop musician Maddie Regent will release her debut album, On the phone with my mom. Today Maddie offers “The wolf,” a captivating single that combines her distinctive poignant storytelling with exhilarating pop energy, as a preview of this highly personal and sonically dynamic production.
“The wolf” is co-written and produced by her boyfriend and creative partner Cade Hoppe and produced by Harper James of Eighty Ninety. It has a catchy beat and uplifting vibe. Maddie describes the music as a look at the worry and fear that come with seeing someone you once loved but now feel distant from. “There’s a part of you that’s paralyzingly afraid of them,” she says, “but you wish you didn’t have to be.”
“The wolf” portrays the bittersweet tension of trying to go on yet being plagued by the past with its raw sensitivity and compelling intensity. After songs like “You could break my heart” and “Sleeptalking,” “The wolf” prepares for On the phone with my mom, an album of introspective lyricism and escapist music.
Maddie, from Toronto and currently in New York City, started creating songs at 12 to cope with her anxiety and communicate her feelings. Over time, she has perfected her sound, combining catchy pop tunes with honest stories.
Maddie has established herself in the indie-pop industry with her two EPs, MISS REGENT and Girl of Your Dreams. Maddie Regent could break out in 2025 with her most ambitious effort.
