Bingkai Karya – Beloved Indonesian music group MALIQ & D’Essentials returns with a deeply emotional new single, “Jalan, Pulang”, a song that captures the quiet battles and daily hopes of working souls everywhere. It’s an ode to every step taken to bring home “good news” to the ones waiting with love.
“The inspiration came from what I experience and feel as a worker, a parent, and a child,” said Widi Puradiredja, drummer of MALIQ & D’Essentials. “It’s raw and honest. I didn’t overthink it just wrote what I felt. It’s probably one of the most genuine things I’ve ever written.”
Surprisingly, the creation process was just as organic as the song itself. Right after performing, Widi and vocalist Indah Wisnuwardhana found themselves casually playing around in a piano room.
“We were just unwinding, but suddenly a melody and chords came out of nowhere. We wrote the lyrics immediately and finished it in less than two hours. We recorded it on a voice note right then and there,” Widi recalled.
“Jalan, Pulang” was written by Widi Puradiredja and Indah Wisnuwardhana, produced by Widi, and released under Warner Music Indonesia. What makes this release extra special is that it comes in four unique versions: the original version, demo (sung by Widi), acapella, and instrumental.
“Each version carries a different emotion. Some listeners might relate more to the stripped-back honesty of the demo, while others might connect deeply to the lyrics in the acapella, or simply feel the music in the instrumental,” said Barry Maheswara, A&R Director of Warner Music Indonesia.
To bring the message of “Jalan, Pulang” even closer to the public, MALIQ & D’Essentials invited notable figures whose life journeys resonate with the song’s essence such as Violenzia Jeanette, Babeh Ojol, Habib Ja’far, Tyna Dwi Jayanti, Sal Priadi, Bilal Indrajaya, Reza Chandika, and Faris Hasyim & Sophia Al Jufri to listen to the track ahead of its release. Their stories inspired a series of 15 exclusive video episodes on the band’s official YouTube channel.
As part of a social experiment, the band’s team also brought “Jalan, Pulang” to the streets during rush hour, letting everyday people experience the song amidst the chaos of commuting. The reactions were heartfelt, reflecting how strongly the lyrics resonated with listeners.
The launch culminated in a release party on July 25 at Transport Hub, Dukuh Atas, where MALIQ & D’Essentials performed the song live for the first time. This event was a collaboration between Warner Music Indonesia, Madhaus, PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda), and ARTOTEL Hub Simpang Temu.
Transport Hub was chosen as the launch venue for its relevance: a meeting point for thousands returning home after a long day a perfect representation of the song’s message about finding hope, meaning, and emotion in the journey back home.
“Jalan, Pulang” is now available on all major digital streaming platforms.
