Bingkai Karya — Pee Wee Gaskins marks a new chapter in their musical journey after officially joining the WeCord Evermore label. Wasting no time, the band consisting of Alditsa “Dochi” Sadega (bass/guitar/vocals), Muhammad Fauzan “Sansan” Santoso (guitar/vocals), Harry “Ayi” Pramahardhika (guitar/bass/backing vocals), Reza “Omo” Satiri synth/keys/sample/ guitar/vocals), and Renaldy “Aldy” Prasetya (drums) immediately hit the ground running by releasing a follow-up to their previous mini-album Salute to 90’s. This time, under the title Salute from Pee Wee Gaskins: Putar Waktu Kembali, they revisit five beloved songs from the era: “: “Piknik 72” (Naif), released August 29; “Terbang” (Gigi), released September 5; “Aku Ingin (/Rif), released September 12; “Bermimpi” (Base jam), released September 19; and “Konservatif” (The Adams), released September 26.
“This is actually a continuation of our 2018 EP Salute to 90’s. But this time, we didn’t limit ourselves to a specific time range, we broadened it. Conceptually, it’s a tribute to the bands we grew up admiring and listening to. There are five tracks in total, and we all selected them together, then finalized everything in discussion with the WeCord Evermore team,” explained Ayi.
The making of Salute from Pee Wee Gaskins: Putar Waktu Kembali didn’t take long—about a month and a half. Still, the road to completing it had its own story. “Even though the process was quick, we did face some challenges, especially when it came to song selection. There were a few tracks we initially wanted, but unfortunately, we couldn’t secure permission from the songwriters. So, we had to find alternatives,” Omo shared.
According to Aldy, the relatively short production time was possible because Pee Wee Gaskins had previously worked with WeCord, and the label provided strong support throughout helping with song selection, getting approvals from the original composers, and managing the recording process. As a result, even though this is their first album under WeCord Evermore, the band didn’t encounter any major difficulties. But why choose to release an EP as their first project with the new label? “This album continues the Salute to the 90’s project. We’d already planned to extend it, and now we finally made it happen here. Plus, it felt incomplete to just put out a single. There’s so much we wanted to explore, so we decided to release five tracks at once,” Aldy explained.
With the word “salute” carried in the title, Sansan emphasized that while the arrangements are infused with Pee Wee Gaskins’ own style, they still pay respect to the original works. “We also added synthesizers across all five tracks, tying them together with the signature Pee Wee Gaskins sound. Through this album, we want to reintroduce the songs that personally shaped our teenage years to today’s generation. Hopefully, fans of the original bands we’ve covered will still enjoy these iconic works through our interpretations.”
For Dochi, just like their previous tribute album, this EP is an expression of respect and appreciation. “These bands lit the spark of my musical passion the first time I heard them. Covering their songs reignites that same energy. I’m truly proud to perform the works of the ‘heroes’ I’ve always admired. Beyond entertaining listeners, I also hope these songs will introduce Pee Wee Gaskins to people who’ve never heard us before, and help us grow our fanbase even further,” Dochi concluded.
