Phum Viphurit Takes You Into Paul Vibhavadi’s World in His Latest Single “The Other Side”

Phum Viphurit

Bingkai Karya-Phum Viphurit, a well-known thai artist, is back with a new single called “The Other Side,” released on September 24, 2024. In this song, Phum explores new styles by blending storytelling with dance music.

The song introduces Paul Vibhavadi, a sloth-like character who first appeared on the cover of Phum’s second album “The Greng Jai Piece.” Paul is now the star of “The Other Side.” Phum describes him as a mix of a sloth and a human trying to fit into the fast-paced city life, even though it’s not where he belongs. “He’s basically a hybrid of Sloth and human who tries his best to fit into city life and the pacing of it. But he’s a sloth, he’s not meant to be in the city,” said Phum.

In “The Other Side,” Paul starts a journey to find a place where he feels he belongs. He discovers a magical map to a peaceful forest from Buddhist culture, called Himmapan, where time doesn’t move, and he can relax. However, before reaching the forest, Paul encounters a tribe that worships sloths and believes he is their savior, even though he isn’t. Paul pretends to be their chosen one because he enjoys the attention, even though he knows it’s wrong. The song’s lyrics explain the tribe’s rules and how a sloth should behave.

A Fresh Musical Style

Musically, “The Other Side” also showcases Phum’s love for early 2000s house music, something he hadn’t included in his previous work. He combines this sound with his guitar skills to create a fresh musical style.

This track is the first single from Phum’s upcoming EP, “PAUL VIBHAVADI VOL. 1,” set to release on October 17. Phum believes the song is a great introduction to the unique world of Paul and the new sound he’s exploring.”The Other Side” is just the beginning of more surprises Phum has planned. He sees this as the first act of a larger creative project and hopes listeners will interpret it in their own way.
