With its cheerful melody and Vina’s playful singing style, the song continues to resonate with young artists today. One of them is the multi-talented Rachel Patricia, who is taking on the challenge of reviving this legendary track.
Known not only for her acting skills but also for her musical talent, Rachel was beyond excited when she was given the opportunity to breathe new life into “Surat Cinta”.
“This song was originally performed by Tante Vina Panduwinata, and now I get to sing it again. I’m absolutely thrilled because this song holds such a special meaning,” Rachel shared.
“Surat Cinta” tells the story of someone’s joy upon receiving a love letter from their crush. The song is set to be released on February 12, 2025, just in time for Valentine’s Day.
Although it is a remake, Rachel has infused the song with her own unique style through a fresh musical arrangement and distinctive vocal interpretation.
“There’s definitely something special about it. The way I perform it and the musical arrangement are different from the previous versions,” she said.
By adding a modern touch, Rachel hopes to introduce “Surat Cinta” to the younger generation while keeping its nostalgic essence alive. However, the recording process was not without its challenges.
Rachel admitted to facing some difficulties but credited her vocal coach, Ayu, for guiding her through it. “Kak Ayu was such a kind and patient vocal coach, and that made everything feel so much easier,” Rachel recalled.
One of the most unforgettable moments for Rachel happened during the music video shoot. Amid her busy schedule, she fell ill and had to receive medical treatment.
“I had to be hospitalized and put on an IV because I was exhausted after filming. But right after that, I continued shooting the video,” she said.
“Surat Cinta” marks Rachel’s fourth single, and it brings a completely different vibe compared to her previous releases, which were mostly melancholic and emotional.
“This one is totally different because I used to sing sad songs. Now, it’s all about happiness and excitement,” Rachel explained.
Rachel is no stranger to the music industry. In 2022, she successfully covered “Jangan Ada Dusta di Antara Kita” with Raffa Affar, which gained over 2 million streams on Spotify. This achievement has fueled her passion for music and inspired her to keep creating.
Beyond music, Rachel is also a renowned actress, starring in various films and TV series such as “Arab Maklum” and “Bangku Kosong”. She began her acting career in “Cinta Brontosaurus”, alongside Raditya Dika, which helped establish her name in the entertainment industry.
With the release of “Surat Cinta”, Rachel hopes the song will be the perfect soundtrack for Valentine’s Day celebrations. “I want to share the joy of falling in love, that thrilling heartbeat when you have a crush on someone. I hope this song is well received by everyone,” she concluded.
