Bingkai Karya-A year after Reality Club released their third studio album “Reality Club Presents…” which earned them two AMI Awards, the Jakarta-based group now releases their latest single “Sunny Days.” This is the most pop song this group has made so far. A music video directed by Baday Rayhan will also go live on Reality Club’s official YouTube channel on July 26..
“’Sunny Days’ is a song about comforting your loved ones. Sometimes we can feel sad when we see other people doing well and having a clear direction in life, while we ourselves are not as successful as them,” says Faiz, who wrote the song. “The main message of the song is that one day we too will be happy. So even if it gets dark today, keep your spirits up, be patient, and you will find a bright day. We can get through the dark times, especially together.”
“Sunny Days” was born in 2021 during the process of working on Reality Club Presents…. when the band intended to explore various genres of music outside of indie rock that they had put out in their previous two albums. “Sunny Days” was inspired by the pop songs they listened to at the time. “At that time we listened to Doja Cat, Ariana Grande and SZA. Since the third album’s objective was to explore many genres, we tried something we’ve never done before,” said Faiz.
A Long Road
Unfortunately, when it came to deciding which songs would make it onto the Reality Club Presents… album, “Sunny Days” didn’t make the cut. “Compared to the other songs, ‘Sunny Days’ lied the furthest from our comfort zone and we felt like it’s not our kind of music, even though it’s similar to the songs we listened to in 2021, so we lacked confidence and kept the song, while the other 10 songs made it to Reality Club Presents….,” said Fathia. “But then we changed our minds because we still felt this song was good and worth releasing.”
Hence, “Sunny Days” is set to be released at the end of the summer of 2024 because it fits the sunny, summer atmosphere. The band even promoted it by performing a piece of “Sunny Days” for the first time on the main stage of We The Fest festival on July 21. “We tried playing it during our rehearsal for We The Fest and we were hooked!” said Era. Nugi added, “What’s clear is that we still need to make it presentable for live performances”.
Goddess Rockstars (Reality Club fans), are free to listen to “Sunny Days” on their favorite music platforms. This also includes Reality Club events, such as the Reality Club Presents… Indonesia Tour in October and November. “Enjoy this song, open your mind. It’s our exploration, we had fun making it and we’re proud of it,” says Faiz. “Hope your day is going bright when you’re listening to ‘Sunny Days’.”
