Cats are one of the pets that humans like the most. In fact, not infrequently there are also people who think that cats are part of the family they care about. According to researchers from Washington State University who study the relationships and interactions between animals and humans, Dr. Patricia Pendry, one of the things that makes people like cats is the discriminatory behavior of these animals.
The subtle and somewhat unexpected response that cats give us gives us the perception that we are singled out or considered ‘special’ when do respond, because those responses tend to occur infrequently, we can always be curious about what the cat will do. Pendry added, because cats have unpredictable traits, humans can be captivated and can’t resist waiting for a purr or a headbutt as a sign of affection from a cat.

Dr. Pendry also stated that cats can give us attention, relieve loneliness, make us feel more comfortable, happy and give affection. When they let us stroke their heads or sleep on our laps, it suppresses the production of cortisol, the stress hormone.
Owning a cat also has an impact on human health. A study conducted by a research team from the Zeenat Qureshi Stroke Research Center, University of Minnesota in 2019 found that people who own cats have a lower risk of dying from heart attacks than those who do not own them.
