Bingkai Karya – South Korea’s genre-blurring band SE SO NEON returns with their wistful new single, “New Romantic,” now available in both Korean and English versions. Led by frontwoman, producer, and multi-instrumentalist Soyoon Hwang (also known for her solo project So!YoON!), the track shimmers with tender synths, soft vocals, and emotional honesty offering a romantic warmth that feels timeless.
“Even if it’s platonic, humanitarian, or unclear in definition, romantic connections give me the courage to feel life deeply and to move forward, even if the journey feels aimless,” shares Soyoon. “New Romantic is my way of expressing love in a deeply sincere, non-superficial way. I always hope that kind of love will be understood.”
“New Romantic” captures a deeply personal side of Soyoon, who admits that her sensitivity toward others sometimes leaves her feeling exposed. This sense of vulnerability, however, is exactly what fuels the authenticity of the track. It’s a delicate reminder that even undefined or fleeting connections can carry profound meaning.
The single will appear on SE SO NEON’s long-awaited debut album , releasing August 15, 2025. Known for blending lo-fi textures with elements of blues, psychedelic rock, new wave, and synth-pop, the band has long pushed the boundaries of genre. Although most of the album is sung in Korean, its themes rooted in presence, nature, and emotional clarity transcend language.
After releasing her second solo album Episode1: Love in 2023, Soyoon felt uncertainty about what was next. Seeking a creative reset, she relocated to New York City, spending long hours in the studio. It was there she rediscovered her purpose: living in the present. That realization became the foundation for .
“At one point, I thought I was done with music,” says Soyoon. “But New York gave me hope. That’s why the album is called it’s about being here, fully.”
Musically, draws from Soyoon’s lifelong connection to nature. From her childhood in Korea to her adult life in Los Angeles, natural landscapes have shaped her vision something that’s reflected in her guitar work throughout the record.
“I love nature sky, sunshine,” she adds. “ is about nature, because I’m from nature.”
