Shania Twain’s documentary titled “Not Just A Girl” was already out on Netflix. Since the 1990s, Shania has paved the way as a genre-defying, iconic, and powerful woman who has broken records, racked up a sizable international fanbase, and produced a collection of some of the biggest hits that have endured through the years.
The tale of an artist who took great risks, Not Just A Girl is the tale of a lady who wanted to forge her own path and be wholly independent of everyone else. From her modest beginnings in Timmins, Ontario, where she was raised in poverty and was inspired by Dolly Parton’s story, through her first record label signing in Nashville, and onto her career-defining meeting with her future husband and rock producer Mutt Lange prior to writing, recording, and releasing her breakthrough album The Woman In Me, Not Just A Girl takes viewers through her life.
The Mercury Studios-produced documentary includes brand-new home interviews with Shania as well as studio session footage from throughout her career. The film offers a comprehensive look at one of pop, country, and rock’s most admired superstars and fashion-forward female pioneers. The documentary takes us right up to the present, when Shania is now working on her sixth studio album.
Along with the documentary, Shania will release a compilation album called Not Just A Girl (The Highlights) through Mercury Nashville/UMe. This album features a brand-new bonus title track in addition to some of her best singles in the order they appear in the documentary. Along with being physically available starting on September 2, digital versions of Not Just A Girl (The Highlights) will be accessible starting on July 26.
One of the most well-known trailblazing artists in music, Shania Twain has won five GRAMMY awards. Twain is still the best-selling female country pop musician of all time with five studio albums recorded and more than 100 million albums sold globally.
