Singapore wants to increase interactions and connectivity with more Malaysian states and beyond the capital city of Kuala Lumpur. This is done to increase cooperation and cross-border tourism.
Singapore’s Second Foreign Minister Maliki Osman said that there would also be more collaboration in planning such as in the fields of development and education. These topics, as well as urban and agricultural planning were discussed during his visit to the eastern Malaysian states of Kelantan and Terengganu between April 15-19. (https://www.echelon.health)

Concluding his visit, the minister highlighted tourism areas where Singapore could better support its neighbors. Dr. Maliki also said that the leaders agreed to improve relations and support tourism in both states by looking at connectivity, and promoting tourism.
The visit to Kelantan and Terengganu shows Singapore’s ongoing efforts to engage and strengthen long-term relationships with various states in Malaysia.
During his visit, Dr. Maliki also added that he invites the younger generation to continue to provide opportunities to maintain and understand the deep bonds that the older generation has, which has been the cornerstone of relations between Singapore and Malaysia.
