Bingkai Karya – The Strokes have unveiled their long-awaited new album, ‘Reality Awaits,’ their first full-length release in six years, available today via Cult Records/RCA Records. The LP features two tracks that have quickly become fan favorites, “Going Shopping” and “Falling out of Love.”
The album was recorded in Costa Rica with legendary producer Rick Rubin, who previously collaborated with the band on their critically acclaimed 2020 album ‘The New Abnormal.’ Following the initial recording sessions, the band and Rubin continued working together in different parts of the world, completing the album wherever inspiration struck.
While recording in Costa Rica, The Strokes invited filmmaker Johann Rashid to document the sessions and create a short film. In Transit: Part II premiered yesterday, offering fans an intimate look into the band’s creative process and the making of the album. The film serves as a sequel to the band’s 2004 documentary In Transit.
The release arrives ahead of an extensive world tour, including a major hometown performance at Flushing Meadows Corona Park in New York City the band’s first headlining show in New York in years with support from Beach House, TV on the Radio, and Fcukers. The tour will also include two nights at The O2 in London, as well as performances at Accor Arena in Paris, Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam, Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle, and many more venues worldwide.
The Strokes recently released the official music video for “Going Shopping,” paying tribute to Paul Simon’s iconic “You Can Call Me Al” video, with Walton Goggins stepping into the legendary role originally played by Chevy Chase. At the time, Goggins was filming a movie in the Canary Islands, but enthusiastically told the band over the phone, “Let’s go shopping!” In late May, Julian Casablancas and the rest of the band traveled to Tenerife, a Spanish island off the coast of Morocco, to meet Goggins on set and bring the concept to life.
Earlier this May, The Strokes gave the live debut performance of “Falling out of Love” on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, marking one of the program’s final musical performances.
