Bingkai Karya – Ruth Sahanaya never stops creating. Celebrating her 40th year in Indonesia’s music industry, the legendary diva affectionately known as Mama Uthe presents a special gift for her fans through her newest single, “Sebaris Lirik Cinta (A Line of Love Lyrics)”. The song was released in conjunction with her 40 Years Symphony from the Heart concert in Surabaya, held at the Surabaya Convention Center on October 25, 2025. Unlike her recent concert collaborations with Tohpati as music director, this time Uthe teamed up with young talents Koko Iryawansyah (as songwriter and composer) and Bowo Soulmate (as vocal director), reflecting her ability to stay relevant in the ever-evolving Indonesian music scene while preserving her signature soulful voice and heartfelt delivery.
Over four decades, Ruth has released numerous studio albums and timeless hits that continue to resonate across generations. Yet the “Keliru” singer shows no signs of slowing down. “This is Uthe’s form of responsibility to her profession,” said Jeffry Waworuntu, the single’s producer, who is also her husband and manager. He promises the new track will make fans fall even deeper in love with the diva.
“Sebaris Lirik Cinta” embraces a refreshing City Pop sound, a genre rooted in Japan’s late 1970s and 1980s music scene, blending Western influences of funk, jazz, and R&B. “It’s laid-back but groovy. I sang this song differently, not with my usual vocal acrobatics, but I truly enjoyed it,” Ruth shared. Drawing inspiration from the golden era of Indonesian musicians like Chris Kayhatu and Rien Djamain, Ruth delivers a sound that feels nostalgic yet modern.
For Uthe, this single is more than just a comeback, it’s a personal challenge and a reflection of artistic maturity. By collaborating with younger musicians, she bridges generations and proves that timeless artistry can evolve with the times. “I love working with younger artists; it keeps me inspired,” she said. Through “Sebaris Lirik Cinta,” Ruth showcases not only her refined musicianship but also her humility, opting for warmth and simplicity over vocal showmanship.
