The National Releases 9th Album: First Two Pages of Frankenstein, and Lyric Video for “The Alcott” ft. Taylor Swift

The National has returned to greet fans with 4AD’s ninth studio album: First Two Pages of Frankenstein. Besides that, a lyric video for new song “The Alcott”, a pensive yet luminous duet between The National’s Matt Berninger and Taylor Swift has also been released.

According to Aaron Dessner of The National regarding “The Alcott”, Matt wrote the main part of the song then sent it to Taylor.

This song tells about two people with a long history who return to a place and try to revive back a certain moment, where they saw there was a hint of something positive where we can see the beginning of a relationship again.

There are 11 tracks on the album “First Two Pages of Frankenstein” produced by The National at Long Pond Studios along with guest appearances from Phoebe Bridgers and Sufjan Stevens.

The National also partnered with New Order and created a limited edition New Order T-Shirt as part of a tribute to the band’s iconic Manchester album design. Part of the proceeds from this collaboration will be donated to The Christie NHS Foundation Trust.

Besides the new album, The National will kick off their 2023 world tour with a four-night stand in Chicago on May 18 with some of their fellow singers. For more information, please visit AmericanMary.com.
