Previously, on August 17, 2022, Bank Indonesia (BI) launched the TE 2022 Rupiah Currency, corresponding with the 77th anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia’s independence. The Republic of Indonesia Money Printing Corporation (Peruri) printed the money.

The Rupiah beat out 4 other contenders in this event, including the Central Bank of Costa Rica, the Central Bank of Mexico, the Central Bank of the Philippines, and the Central Bank of the Bahamas.

This award is based on criteria such as innovation and uniqueness of security features, integration of historical elements with local content related to the country of issue, effectiveness of security feature integration, and the aesthetic appearance and design of banknotes.

According to Dwina Septiani Wijaya, Peruri’s Main Director, Peruri’s ability as a money-making company has been validated by world-class honors. Updates to Rupiah’s security features are obvious evidence that Peruri’s capabilities as a world-class moneymaker is improving.

According to her, this has resulted in Rupiah money gaining international respect as high-quality paper money. This achievement builds on the earlier triumph of the Republic of Indonesia’s 75th Anniversary of Independence (UPK) in the IDR 75,000 denomination as the top finalist at IACA 2022.

The design, security features, and currency materials of the TE 2022 Rupiah money have all been improved and innovative. This makes Rupiah money more beautiful, secure, and long-lasting. Rupiah notes are now easier to identify, more difficult to counterfeit, and have a longer circulation time as a result of these developments and improvements. As a result, the Rupiah gains in quality and trustworthiness, while also serving as a source of pride as legal tender and a symbol of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia’s sovereignty.

Peruri strives to give the best in money printing by improving the quality of security features, performing research on the latest banknote printing technology, and updating machine technology.
