Bingkai Karya– Hitam Putih, Feby Putri’s most recent album, follows the success of her previous album Riuh (2022), which received hundreds of millions of streams across many digital streaming platforms. The record, which was formally published , is not only a form of Feby’s latest artistic journey, but also an inscription of her experiences as a wanderer, with all of its beauty and bitterness.
“This second album is still about a nomad’s trip. A nomad who has matured sufficiently. Because in the Riuh album, I told about myself, an 18-year-old immigrant who was still puzzled and surprised. Then, on the Hitam Putih album, I’ve matured enough to comprehend myself and how the world works,” Feby explained.
Feby’s Story
Feby choose to move from Makassar to Jakarta to seek a career in the music industry. As time passed, she explored her dreams, which came true. However, there were significant implications that Feby had to accept. She died far from her relatives, not even by her mother’s side. The situation drove Feby to go even additionally into her sentiments. About loss, grief, distance, time, authenticity, and everything else that empties her heart. This method has established a clear pattern across Hitam Putih album.
“In 2023, when I was going about my day in Depok as usual, I got a call that my mother was gone.”
“I could only blame myself, regretting my decision to migrate. So I couldn’t go to see my mother right away. I received the tragic news in the afternoon, and I had to get an airline ticket for the closest flight at 10 p.m. I felt like it took eternity. “On the way back to Makassar, I just sat, silent, daydreaming,” Feby explained.
Feby immortalized her anguish at her mother’s death with the song “Daya Diri.”
Feby also included a sample of her mother’s recorded advice on the track “Suara Ibu.” The recording reveals her mother saying, “Listen to what your parents tell you, my child. Whether it’s when our parents are still here to support us or after they’ve passed away.” This tape was made from a video that Feby accidentally discovered on her laptop after her mother passed away.
“Semoga Ada Waktu Luang” is the album’s highlight track, inspired by Feby’s experience of being undervalued as a musician. Those who had previously underestimated her contacted her to express their gratitude for her music, which surprised her. Hitam Putih album concludes with the track “Perasa yang Baru Tumbuh,” which explores the authenticity of living life after everything that has transpired.
