
Mutiara Syarifuddin, a fashion designer from Malang brought the tragedy of Kanjuruhan onto the Fashion Upcycling stage at Ciputra Mall Surabaya on Monday, November 14, 2022. Mutiara Syarifuddin amazed the judges and got second place. The fashion with the theme “Disaster” by Mutiara Syarifuddin was inspired by the 40 days of the Kanjuruhan stadium tragedy.
Mutiara Syarifuddin revealed that she was touched when she saw the Arema supporters who gathered at the city hall on November 10, 2022, calling for justice for the victims of the Kanjuruhan tragedy.15,000 Aremania took to the streets to protest peacefully. They did a long march and theatrical action from Gajayana Stadium to Malang City Hall.
The words “Usut Tuntas” echoed by Arema and Aremania adorned the clothes of Mutiara Syarifuddin. She lifted the posters of Aremania’s struggle into his black clothes. Several portraits of the tragedy were also affixed complete with yellow and black police lines.

Even though Mutiara Syarifuddin did not really follow the development of Arema despite growing up and living in Malang City, but as a human being and a local citizen, she shares the grief of the Kanjuruhan tragedy which was called the deadliest sport disaster in Indonesia. She also hopes that her work can participate in channeling the voices of the struggle of Aremania and the people of Malang.
