Bingkai Karya – Makna Talks, the Jakarta-based creative platform known for presenting “the other side of every story,” has launched ‘Pawerful Voices,’ a new podcast dedicated to making animal welfare a mainstream conversation. In a media landscape where educational content on animal welfare remains underrepresented, ‘Pawerful Voices’ aims to fill that gap through a combination of empathy, science, and storytelling.
New episodes are released every two weeks on Sundays at 13:00 WIB via the ‘Pawerful Voices’ and Makna Talks YouTube channels.
Despite the strong emotional connection many people have with animals, accessible educational content about animal welfare remains limited. ‘Pawerful Voices’ was created to address this need by bringing together science, compassion, popular culture, and real-life stories in a format that is engaging and easy to understand. Through meaningful conversations, the podcast seeks to transform empathy into action, providing audiences with the knowledge and perspective needed to engage with animal welfare issues in their daily lives.
The show is built around three key pillars: turning empathy for animals into tangible action, bridging the worlds of science, compassion, and culture, and making animal welfare a mainstream topic through storytelling, popular culture references, and practical insights. The lack of this type of content in today’s media landscape is not only the motivation behind the podcast but also one of its defining strengths.
‘Pawerful Voices’ is hosted by three individuals whose backgrounds and experiences bring unique yet complementary perspectives to the conversation. Singer, songwriter, and actress Sherina contributes warmth, cultural relevance, and the storytelling sensibility of an artist deeply connected with her audience. Beyond her work in entertainment, Sherina shares her home with rescue cats and rabbits, reflecting a personal commitment to animal welfare that now reaches a broader audience through the podcast.
Joining her is Indira, a creative director who shapes the conceptual identity of the show and ensures that each episode is as thoughtfully crafted as it is informative. Indira has spent years building a community around stray animal welfare in Indonesia. During the recent disaster in Sumatera-Aceh, she led a campaign that raised more than Rp500 million to support stray animals displaced by floods and landslides, an effort that significantly elevated her advocacy work. Through ‘Pawerful Voices,’ she brings the same passion, leadership, and organizational expertise to the development and communication of the show.
The third host, Nadira (Doknut), is a veterinarian whose scientific knowledge and clinical expertise provide a strong foundation for the podcast’s discussions. She ensures that conversations about animal welfare go beyond emotion by offering credible, evidence-based information that listeners can trust. Her ability to explain complex topics in a clear and accessible way helps make animal health and welfare issues understandable to a wider audience.
The connection between the three hosts was not formed in a recording studio but in the field. An unforgettable big cat rescue mission became the pivotal experience that strengthened their friendship and reinforced their shared commitment to animal welfare. That experience ultimately laid the foundation for the collaborative spirit that drives ‘Pawerful Voices’ today.
