Bingkai Karya — Rising Filipino-American indie pop singer-songwriter Rocco returns with “Someone I Never Had,” an angsty and emotionally charged pop-rock anthem that opens the final chapter of his viral narrative series, ‘A Comedy Romantic.’ Released three months after his EP ‘A Comedy Romantic (Act. 1)’, the new single sets the stage for the highly anticipated ‘A Comedy Romantic (Act. 2)’ and continues the story through music, visuals, and short-form storytelling.
Built around the ache of an almost-relationship, “Someone I Never Had” explores a distinctly modern form of heartbreak, mourning someone who was never truly yours. The song begins with the uncertainty of blurred boundaries and undefined feelings, before developing into an explosive self-confession that confronts the emotional weight of an unresolved connection.
Serving as the emotional anchor of Rocco’s ‘A Comedy Romantic’ universe, the track brings the story of two friends caught in the limbo of a situationship into sharper focus. Through vulnerable verses and anthemic pop-rock production, Rocco transforms the uncertainty of an undefined relationship into a cathartic soundtrack for anyone left grieving what could have been.
The track was produced by Jason Suwito and written by Rocco alongside Micah Premnath, continuing the creative relationship behind the sonic world of ‘A Comedy Romantic.’ The collaboration follows Rocco’s first successful work with “Palm”, further shaping the project’s evolving musical identity.
Inspired by Rocco’s love for 1990s and 2000s romantic comedies, ‘A Comedy Romantic’ extends beyond a conventional music project.
