When Logic Fights the Heart, “(Jangan) Jatuh Cinta” Marks a New Musical Chapter by Dee Lestari

Bingkai Karya – “(Jangan) Jatuh Cinta” marks a meaningful return to music for Dee Lestari, opening a new chapter in her long standing artistic journey. The single introduces her third solo album and her first full length release as a solo singer in 17 years, following a career that has shaped Indonesian music for decades. Dee first rose to prominence as a member of Rida Sita Dewi (1995–2003), continued her solo path with Out of Shell (2006), and left a lasting cultural impact through Rectoverso(2007). One of its most iconic songs, “Malaikat Juga Tahu,” has since become a legendary piece performed by various artists. Beyond her own catalog, Dee has also written numerous hit songs for top Indonesian musicians, including Marcell, Raisa, Ariel NOAH, Andien, and Titi DJ.

Despite her musical legacy, Dee’s strong public image as a bestselling author gradually overshadowed her presence as a singer. For the past 17 years, she had not released a complete solo album, choosing instead to focus on her literary career. In 2024, the passing of her father became a turning point. During moments of solitude at home, Dee began singing again initially as a way to comfort herself. Using a simple home setup with a laptop and speakers, she sang almost every night for weeks. What began as a personal ritual of healing slowly reignited her emotional connection to music and led her to fall in love with singing once more.

That rediscovered passion crystallized into a clear intention: to return fully to music and create a new album. In 2025, with the support of her management team Arie Dagienkz, Riko Prayitno (Mocca), Bayu Fajri, and Anthono, this vision became a reality. The journey begins with “(Jangan) Jatuh Cinta,” chosen as the opening single of her upcoming third solo album.

Through her signature lyrical style, emotive yet playful, direct yet poetic, “(Jangan) Jatuh Cinta” explores the inner conflict between logic and the heart. Logic attempts to protect the heart from pain, offering rational reasons to avoid falling in love, while the heart speaks from a place of honesty and surrender. Love does not require permission, perfect timing, or ideal conditions; it simply happens, even when it is least expected.

The single is arranged by Rendy Pandugo, with Teddy Adhitya serving as vocal director. Built upon warm musical textures, rich guitar layers, and captivating vocal harmonies, “(Jangan) Jatuh Cinta” offers an intimate listening experience that both soothes and stirs emotion. Prior to its official release, Dee previewed several new songs during her Bocor Tipis showcases in Jakarta and Yogyakarta, where “(Jangan) Jatuh Cinta” received a warm and enthusiastic response from audiences.

With this release, Dee hopes to offer a fresh yet heartfelt opening to her return as a seasoned singer-songwriter whose new work has long been awaited. “(Jangan) Jatuh Cinta” will be released simultaneously across all digital streaming platforms on December 16, 2025, serving as a tender and meaningful closing gift for music listeners at the end of the year.
