Bingkai Karya – In an exciting continuation of the #Kolaberaksi project, iconic Indonesian band KOTAK has joined forces with renowned DJ duo Winky Wiryawan and Mahesa Utara to breathe new life into their classic anthem, ‘Beraksi.’ Originally released in 2008, this timeless hit has undergone a dynamic transformation, courtesy of the electronic beats and creative flair of Winky and Mahesa.
The revamped version of ‘Beraksi’ boasts a fresh perspective on the track, with a duration of 02:53, showcasing the collaborative efforts of Winky Wiryawan and Mahesa Utara. The original composition by Mario Marcella Handika Putra (Cella), KOTAK’s guitarist, has taken on a vibrant new form under the skilled production of Winky and Mahesa.
Tantri, the vocalist of KOTAK, shared insights about the project in a press release on Friday, December 15, 2023. “This project essentially aims to ‘turn’ away from the typical characteristics of our (KOTAK) songs. Why did we choose ‘Beraksi’ for this project? Because this song serves as the anthem for every KOTAK stage, we wanted to give it a refreshing update,” explained Tantri.
The collaboration between Winky Wiryawan and Mahesa Utara has successfully blended the realms of rock and electronic music, resulting in a rejuvenated rendition that preserves the essence of the original song while introducing a contemporary twist.
#Kolaberaksi, which translates to “Collaborate and Act,” has already seen the release of two versions of ‘Beraksi’ as part of the project. The opening track by Willy Winarko infused hip-hop rap elements, setting the stage for the diverse interpretations of KOTAK’s classic hits. Subsequently, the ‘Action’ version of the Magic Competition was unveiled in September, further expanding the musical horizons of the project.
In the #Kolaberaksi initiative, various musicians are reimagining KOTAK’s hits and offering their unique renditions. The latest remix of ‘Beraksi’ by Winky Wiryawan and Mahesa Utara is now available on all major digital streaming platforms in Indonesia. Additionally, fans can experience the Official Visualizer on the KOTAK YouTube channel, providing a visual accompaniment to the innovative fusion of rock and electronic music. The collaboration promises to be a dynamic addition to the legacy of KOTAK and reinforces the band’s commitment to musical evolution and experimentation.
