X, or previously known as Twitter, will remove the blocking feature for other users’ accounts. The policy was announced by Owner of X, Elon Musk. This is another controversial move by Elon Musk after buying Twitter last year. Previously, the block feature allowed X users to restrict certain accounts from contacting them, viewing their posts, or following their accounts.
Users may now only mute individuals in the X app update, which allows them to erase another account’s posts from their timeline without unfollowing or blocking them. Yet, muted accounts can still see user posts. Musk added that X will retain a mute capability that will allow X users to filter out specific accounts.

Unlike the block option, the mute feature does not notify other accounts of the action. Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey agreed to remove the blocking feature. Many X users are concerned about the shift. Removing the block option may also violate the terms of service of Apple’s App Store and Google Play.
