3 Reasons Why You Shouldn’t Sleep After Suhoor

Most of us surely sleep after eating suhoor, right? We are full from eating; moreover, we wake up at dawn to eat. What a perfect combination to make us sleepy and choose to sleep after suhoor. In fact, the habit of sleeping after suhoor has disadvantages for our body. 

After eating suhoor, the food will be digested by our stomach and it takes about 2 hours to extract the food. While we are sleeping, all body functions are shut except the heart, brain, and lungs. If we sleep after suhoor, our stomach has no time to digest the food and end up causing many problems to our body. What are they?

  1. Food becomes fat not energy

If we choose to sleep after eating suhoor, the calories are not digested and turn into fats. Aside from that, it will make us hungry. Because of feeling hungrier, we will eat more in iftar. As a result, we will be lazier and more fat is stored. Fat combo got from suhoor and iftar. 

  1. Causing stomach acid to increase

The habit of sleeping after suhoor can lead you to have a stomach ulcer because of undigested food. Our stomach will automatically increase the stomach acid to fasten the digestion process. Besides, stomach acid will scrape the throat’s lining and wound it. It causes stomach ache, heartburn, and burning sensation from the chest to the throat.

  1. Causing constipation

Because the food is not perfectly digested, it will remain in the stomach. The remaining food that is not digested will cause constipation. The risk of getting constipated will be higher during fasting because our body has less water than usual
