SMK Muhammadiyah 5 Kepanjen held a talk show inviting Mr. Samuel Elliot, the Owner of Ainayyah Humariah Event Organizer which focused on spreading the concern about English study in the tourism sector, especially hotel business. English is the main international language connecting many countries to communicate easily. Moreover, Indonesia is one of the most favored tourist destinations by foreigners.
“We haven’t been able to compete with the US in film making yet. We haven’t been able to compete with England in terms of football as well as technology yet. However, we can compete in the tourism industry. So, the next hope for Indonesia’s tourism lies in our young generations,” said Didik Rocki Wahyono, the General Manager of Aston Inn Batu.
The talk show was so much fun with the enthusiasm of the students asking various questions to Mr. Samuel. He gave tips in studying English which are: learn a new vocabulary everyday, try to speak in English in front of the mirror, practice our English with our friends everyday, and most importantly, don’t be shy to speak in English.

The current pattern of learning the hotel business determines the long process of the tourism industry in the future. With the knowledge about tourism taught in school, it will encourage the students to have an advanced thought to face new challenges in the tourism sector later on.
