Disporapar Kota Malang and Pemkot Malang Hold Malang Creativa #2, Celebrating Malang City’s 109th Anniversary

Disporapar Kota Malang conducts Malang Creativa #2 on Saturday, May 13, 2023 at Alun-Alun Tugu Kota Malang. The event has a theme of “Semangat Mandiri, Tangguh, dan Berkelanjutan/The Spirit of Independence, Resilience and Sustainability” and is still a series of the 109th Anniversary of Malang City.

The event is named Malang Creativa #2 because previously, Malang Creativa #1 had already been held in 2022. Malang Creativa #2 started at 10.00 with traditional sport competitions, fashion shows wearing recycled costumes, Bakso Festival, and Pencak Dor. Not only that, there is Pawai Tumpeng attended by all regional apparatus in Malang City, Banking, PKK, and so on with a total of 1500+ participants and 1936 tumpeng.

Pawai Tumpeng was held not only to commemorate the 109th Anniversary of Malang City, but also to preserve the tumpeng culture and encourage people’s creativity in using the butterfly pea flower as an ingredient for making tumpeng. 

Malang Creativa #2 series will be held until evening with a lantern festival as the closing event. This series of events was also supported by MSMEs in Malang City who participated in enlivening the event. By involving MSMEs in Malang City, Disporapar Kota Malang and Malang City Government hope that the economy will continue.

“Malang Creativa #2, as instructed by the Mayor of Malang City, will be brought as annual event, routine event conducted to actualize Pemkot Malang’s commitment in building Malang City’s tourism sector that also involve Malang citizens,” said  Baihaqi, S.Pd., S.E., M.Si., the Head of Disporapar Kota Malang. 

Disporapar Kota Malang and Malang City Government hope that by bringing Malang Creativa #2 as an annual event, it can attract people to visit Malang City. 

“Everyone’s response (toward Malang Creativa #2) is so incredible. This shows that Malang citizens really feel like they own their city, they want to present their city to be renowned because we realize that Malang City is a tourism city,” added Baihaqi.
