Joko Widodo, the President of Republic Indonesia, gave an instruction to his staff in the central and regional governments to use electric cars as daily official vehicles.
Jokowi’s order is contained in Presidential Instruction No. 7 of 2022 concerning the Use of Battery-Based Electric Motorized Vehicles as Operational Service Vehicles and/or Individual Vehicles for Central Government and Regional Government Agencies. (https://emdrprofessionaltraining.com)
This instruction was officially issued by Jokowi on September 13, 2022 and has been implemented since the 1st time the instruction was released. Jokowi said that the use of operational service vehicles could be carried out through a scheme of buying, renting, or converting conventional vehicles into battery-based electric motorized vehicles.

Regarding the use of battery-based electric motor vehicles, this must refer to the provisions of the legislation about the procurement of government goods/services. While the matter of funding comes from the State Revenue and Expenditure Budget, Regional Revenue and Expenditure Budget, and/or other legal sources in accordance with the provisions of the legislation.
Jokowi in his regulations stated that this instruction was addressed to 10 levels of government from ministers to regents/mayors. Jokowi also instructed his government to take the necessary steps according to their respective main tasks, functions and authorities to accelerate the implementation of the use of electric cars in the official environment.
