The 2nd day of the 2022 World Cup was held with great enthusiasm at Khalifa International Stadium and Al Thumama Stadium on Monday (21/11). There were 2 matches held last night, England vs Iran from Group B at 20:00 WIB and Senegal vs the Netherlands from Group A at 23:00 WIB.
The results of the 2022 World Cup were colored by England’s goal feast when they beat Iran with a score of 6-2. England dominated most of the game, barely giving Iran a chance to develop their game. Then, the following goals were scored by Bukayo Saka, Raheem Sterling, Marcus Rashford and Jack Grealish. The result that England got against Iran this time was the biggest win at the 2022 World Cup as well as a record for the team nicknamed “The Three Lions”.
England got the 1st position in the Group B standings after collecting 3 points, followed by Wales in 2nd position and the United States in 3rd position. Meanwhile, Iran is in 4th place without a point.
On the other hand,the Netherlands struggled to beat Senegal 2-0 in the qualifying match for Group A. The match went tough and both teams were unable to score goals until the first half ended. Then, Netherlands, with the nickname “De Oranje”, got 2 late goals at the end of the second half to win.
The Netherlands tried to dominate from the first minute of the match, but Senegal managed to suppress them. In the 19th minute, the Netherlands got a golden opportunity in the Senegal penalty box. Unfortunately, Frenkie De Jong was too late to finish so Senegal could defend from him.
The winning goals for the Netherlands were scored by Cody Gakpo in the 84th minute and Davy Klaassen in injury time. The results made the Netherlands occupy the top of Group A with 3 points, while Senegal occupied the 3rd position with 0 points.
