EXO Kai will reportedly be enlisting in the military duty next week, May 11, to fulfill his mandatory military service. This is according to SM Entertainment on May 3 which released the statement. Kai will be the seventh member from EXO to be the next to do military duty.
In a release on the fan community platform, Kwangya Club, SM Entertainment said that Kai will begin with a five-week basic training program at the military boot camp starting next Thursday. After training, Kai will continue his duties as a public service officer.

Kai is reported to have been preparing his group album with EXO for the foreseeable future. However, his enlistment was suddenly accelerated due to a new change in the Military Manpower Administration’s rules. Therefore, for information on EXO’s upcoming comeback, SM will notify you again in the future.
SM also added that there would be no special ceremony to mark his enlistment in respect of Kai’s wish to keep the event simple. The exact time and location of his enlistment have yet to be revealed.
Kai started his career by debuting back in 2012 as the main dancer of the nine-member group, and started to gain fans’ attention and become a favorite for his dancing skills and solid performances. In addition, he is also the main dancer in SuperM, a project group owned by SM Entertainment. In 2020, Kai successfully started his solo career with his first single “Kai”, and just released his latest album “Rover” on March 13, 2023 yesterday.
